Unearthly Beings

The Persephone & Hades collection of the Unearthly Beings line has been so wonderful to explore as the fall equinox makes its way to us. When learning about the fall equinox, and watching the seasons change when I make my commute to school, I find myself reminded frequently of Persephone and Hades, and their story. I think about the transition Persephone makes to the underworld each year, and how the transition from summer to fall makes me feel so much more connected to that idea. Watching Demeter mourn the loss of her child, while Hades celebrates the return of his wife, evokes the same feelings to me that fall does. There is this dance between the trees of both turning these beautiful colors, and losing their leaves too. When finding crystal beads that were connected to Hades and Persephone, I found myself looking at these deeply rich, autumn colors. These deep garnets (love, self confidence, grounding), lava rock (creativity, strength, stability), and even green jade (abundance, gentleness, harmony). I couldn’t help but crave the pomegranates that this god and goddess were so fond of, and the color of the fruit itself, too. 

Celebrating all the growth that has been made this season, while still preparing for the cold winter ahead.

My hope for this collection, in whatever way it has found you, is that regardless of your beliefs, or what your favorite story or myth might be this autumn- that you find comfort in the crystals that will accompany you in my jewelry. That the properties of these necklaces help guide you through the equinox, and the rest of the year,   and help with the manifestation of a good harvest (emotionally or physically) and find the passion, strength, and love that I found in the story of Persephone and Hades.
