Healing Balm - Herbal Skincare Salve - 2oz

$12.00

Our herbal healing balm is made with all-natural beeswax and Italian olive oil infused with calendula, yarrow, and broadleaf plantain. It can be used as a face and body moisturizer or to help with healing scars, skin imperfections, rashes, and wounds.

Why Calendula? – a member of the marigold family, calendula is a great helping herb for all skin conditions. It is known to have anti-inflammatory properties, can help fight infections, and improve healing time. Calendula is a bright yellow or orange flower and is also thought to bring sunshine into your life.

Why Yarrow? – a well known healer, yarrow is a believed to be a source of protection. Yarrow was used in Greek Mythology to protect Achilleas, who was dipped in it everywhere except the ankle which became his ultimate undoing. In addition to be antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, yarrow is known for stopping the flow of blood on wounds and is anti-microbial.

Why Plantain? – broadleaf plantain is well known to nearly everyone in North America, you may not know it’s name, but it pops up in most of our yards and grassy areas. Called, white man’s footprint, it was said to follow settlers across the nation. Thankfully the spread of broadleaf plantain has been a benefit, rather than a detriment. It is considered naturalized and does not compete with local plants. It has excellent healing properties and can be grabbed when you’re out in the park to use on cuts or bug bites (just mash it into a paste before using)!

The herbs in our salve come straight from our garden or are supplemented by organic growers as needed.  The calendula, yarrow, and plantain are submerged in Italian olive oil and infused in the sun for 4-6 weeks.  This process allows the medicinal qualities of the herbs to infuse into the olive oil.  Once the oil is complete, it is combined with 100% natural beeswax to create a usable salve.
